Great photo. I've seen Wilfrid Laurier's death mask in person at the Laurier House in Ottawa several times.

Removing a seed
he looks like he's removing a a particularly hard to get at seed from his teeth. I can almost see the tongue working away at it with a slight sucking motion.

Half paralysed
Wilfrid Laurier has been a great Quebecer and a good Canadian a short while after the Confederation. The mask is surprising by it's dignity!

Even though...
I realize he probably died of a stroke, his expression looks as though he passed trying to suppress a laugh at a really good joke.
