satisfaction
He's probably still laughing at the world--even after CANDIDE!

Humor
He looks as though he kept his humor all the way to the end. That smile is contagious. I believe that this has made my day.

i love it!
this is exactly how i imagined voltaire would look - old and sly and like he's on the brink of bursting out laughing or maybe pinching a nurse's butt... he looks like he just pulled off a grand good joke on everyone.

He looks like
Voltaire should look. He was not handsome or particularly distinguished . Maybe thats is what made his work so exceptional. He could not trade on his looks so he put his soul into his work.

Clever
He has a look on his face like he's hearing a joke that only he gets. I like it.

Nice face-Great Writer
I love Voltaire. He was such a wry witty man. Read him and you will find him far ahead of his time. He is one of the people in History that I wish I could invite to a dinner party.

Alive?
It looks like it was done while he was alive. The face doesn't look dead.

Inspiration?
Seriously. he looks a lot like the river spirit from the Hayao Miyazaki film "Spirited Away".

Until the very last...
for myself I like this mask immensely. That same wry face from the busts of Houdon is carried over even to this stage. One wonders, though, whether there might had been some manipulation of the face for this mask. But this does remind me of certain annecdotes about Voltaire on his deathbed. When someone had lit a candle close to him he is said to have asked, "What, the flames already?"
