Hanging her for this crime was too good for her. She should have felt more pain before being sent to her maker.

More Details
I found some more old newspaper articals about this woman. She had a two year old son who was looked after by his father. The year before the murder the husband died. She did not want the child , "he hampered her" so she tied a stone to the child and throw him into the Port Melbourne Lagoon. She had made previous attempts to get rid of the boy but had failed. Poor child

Mrs Emma Williams
was hang on the 4th Nov 1895 for the murder of her child . Old Newspapers give full detail of the hanging but very little about the crime.

Murderess
There were only five women ever hanged in the state of Victoria, and all of them were convicted of murder as far as I'm aware, so this woman was a convicted murderess.

I don't know all of the crimes of the convicted women, but one was a serial child killer (she took in children for money and killed them and kept collecting money from the mothers), and one killed her own child (who interfered with her business as a street prostitute).

I can't say that all of these women were necessarily guilty of the crimes of which they were convicted (the murdering childminder was, though, as she did confess to it all), but their crimes were all very serious.
