Cartes de Visite
The carte de visite, or CDV, is one of the older examples of photography. Mounted on a 2.5" x 4" card, CDVs date from the mid-1850s and reached the peak of their popularity in the mid-to-late 1860s.   [ Browse CDVs ]

Cabinet Cards
The cabinet card was the next generation of the carte de visite. Larger, at 4.25" x 6.5", cabinet cards quickly surpassed CDVs as the most popular form of photography. Most common from the 1870s through the 1890s.   [ Browse Cabinet Cards ]

Tintypes
